As a soloist, sonata, duo or associated with the human voice, the viola d’amour aroused admiration and curiosity as soon as it appeared in the 17th century. Attilio Ariosti, a composer from Italy, helped to export the instrument all over Europe, notably to London, via, among other things, the sublime cantata Pur alfin gentil viola.

Founded in 1995, the Arioso Mixed Choir based in Is-sur-Tille and conducted by Pierre-Jean Yème for ten years has collaborated on many projects region and beyond. From Monteverdi to Verdi, they capture some of the hits from the Italian repertoire in collaboration with the ZENE ensemble. Come and sing with them!
